Emotional Literacy

Emotional Literacy Workshops

The program is most effective when deployed strategically, starting with training for the administrators, then the educators and finally implementing the curricula in schools.  Curriculum materials are available for Kindergarten through Middle School.  All workshops are a full day and are conducted on site.

Emotional Literacy Workshops

Emotional Literacy for Administrators

This workshop emphasizes the impact emotions have on individuals, teams, and organizations, and helps administrators learn how to harness the wisdom of emotions to become more effective leaders.

Emotional Literacy for Educators

This skill-building workshop is for teachers, assistant teachers and anyone who works with children in the classroom. The focus is on the role of emotional knowledge in academic performance, building quality relationships, making informed decisions, and managing and leading classrooms.

In this workshop, participants learn how to read and respond to the emotions of others as well as regulate their own emotions. Current research on these methods reinforces the power of being emotionally literate and the impact it can have on almost all areas of our lives.

Participants can expect to learn:

  • How emotions affect all areas of our behavior and performance
  • How to educate other staff about handling emotions effectively
  • About compelling research on emotional literacy and academic performance
  • How to help students manage their emotions
  • How to apply these concepts both in a single classroom and school-wide

Emotional Literacy in the Classroom

This workshop gives educators the tools needed to bring Emotional Literacy into their classrooms.  Educators will get a road map for seamlessly integrating emotions concepts into their regular curriculum.  Participants will also learn strategies for teaching students how to manage their behavior.

The ELC lessons enhance key outcomes in national educational standards including:

  • Cognitive functioning, including vocabulary, critical thinking, and creativity
  • Mental and physical health, including self-awareness and self-regulation
  • Social competence (social awareness and effective communication)
