Bullying May Contribute to Lower Test Scores - High schools in Virginia where students reported a high rate of bullying had significantly lower scores on standardized tests that students must pass to graduate, according to research presented at the 119th Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association.
SELmedia Releases S.S.GRIN Early Childhood
SELmedia announced today that it has released its newest addition to the growing suite of S.S.GRIN (Social Skills Group Intervention) programs. S.S.GRIN EC is the first evidence-based program that teaches social skills to the early childhood range, ages 4-6. The program is appropriate for use in schools, community settings and clinics.
S.S.GRIN EC is a small group intervention that builds the social skills of young children and promotes positive peer relationships. Topics covered include communication skills, cooperation and compromise, making friends and understanding emotions. In a scientific study, research on S.S.GRIN EC showed that children who participated in S.S.GRIN EC had a significantly greater improvement in their social skills and their ability to regulate emotions as compared to the control group.
