Instructional DVD Videos
"Building Social Relationships: Parents and Children Working Together."
An instructional DVD/video is included in the Parent Guide to S.S.GRIN kit to reinforce concepts. The titles and lengths of each video segment included in the DVD/video set are listed in the table to the right. These segments are intended to be a resource for parents that can be viewed at home if the Parent Guide is used as self-help tool or during corresponding group session during parent training groups. The DVD/video set includes a collection of video segments specifically designed to provide an overall program overview and to introduce the skills and concepts covered within each training session. Segments include explanatory pieces, discussion of key social skills and concepts, and goals for working with children in these areas. Each session prompts the group leader to the appropriate time to use the video segments.
In addition to the overview segments, four segments are devoted to illustrating each of the Methods of Change. Each segment includes a demonstration of one or more MOC along with definitions and discussion. Segments include parent/child dialogues, modeling specific behaviors, explanatory pieces, and demonstrative interactions. These segments are intended to provide a concrete illustration of each of these methods in action to support parents’ ability to use the MOCs as taught throughout the training sessions and Parent Handouts. These segments are presented in gray in the table to the right.
