SELmedia, in collaboration with the
3-C Institute for Social Development, created this online workshop to help
educators deal with bullying and identify social isolates (children who are
rejected by their peers). The workshop
also explores the relationship between social skills and bullying.
Social isolates often have poor
social skills. As a result, they frequently are targeted by bullies or
even become bullies themselves, and are at risk for multiple negative outcomes.
3-C ISD’s extensive research in this area has revealed clear direction
on developing effective interventions and guidance on teaching social skills to
these children.
Dr. Melissa DeRosier of 3-C ISD and
Dr. Ron Anderson of SELmedia share this information in this new online workshop
designed for educators. The workshop covers practical ways to identify
social isolates and help them succeed in school.
Purchase either the Individual or
the School-wide package and get immediate access to the online workshop and
several downloadable resources for one year.
Renewable annually thereafter.
At the conclusion of the workshop,
participants should be able to:
- Identify
children who are socially isolated and describe the connection between social
isolation and bully and victim behavior.
- Describe
the short-term and long-term consequences of social isolation.
- Explain
the core social skills all children need to develop to avoid isolation from
peers.
- Describe
strategies that school personnel can apply to teach and reinforce these core
social skills.
